Urdu dropped from Delhi Public School, Hyd

Govt. of Telangana has been making lofty claims for the promotion of Urdu but it has not taken any action to ask the private management schools to offer Urdu as one of the subjects. The latest example is that Delhi Public School, Hyderabad in its diary published recently has announced that it has decided to stop teaching of Urdu in its curriculum.

Senior Congress Leader, Mr. Mohammed Khaleeq ur Rahman wrote a letter to Prof. Akhtar – ul – Wasey, National Commissioner for Linguistic Minorities, New Delhi to instruct the management of the said school for arranging teaching of Urdu as third language along with Sanskrit. Prof. Akhtar-ul-Wasey wrote a letter to HRD Minister, Ms. Smriti Irani to issue instructions to all the Kendriya Vidyalayas and CBSE to include Urdu as an optional language since constitution of India guarantees providing education to the children in their mother tongues.
