Urdu Academy Revokes Publication of Urdu Manuscripts

Urdu Academy has started its function with the appointment of its dynamic and enthusiastic Director, Prof. Syed Abdul Shukoor, Head of the Dept of Urdu, at Nizam College, Osmania University.

He immediately revoked the scheme of old Urdu manuscripts.

Urdu Academy provides financial assistance partly for the publication of such manuscripts.

Authors get Rs 10 to 12 thousand under this scheme to meet publication expenses.
Giving the details of the previous expenses, he told that the Academy had provided
Rs 8,75,00 for the publication of 175 manuscripts in 2008-09. In the second phase
Rs 7,48,000 was released Prof. Shukoor told that since this scheme was not operative for three years, nearly 500 Urdu manuscripts are likely to be received.

He said that a committee of experts consisting of 5 to 7 members would be consisted to select the manuscripts.

Prof. Shukoor pointed out that for the implementation of its developmental activities, Urdu Academy might need more budget allocation. He hoped that Govt.of A.P would certainly help the Academy.

He told that Urdu Academy would soon make a mark as a distinct organization. The manuscripts could be submitted before 12th May 2012
