Hyderabad, August 08: Upset over the attitude of the party leaders over the Karamchedu incident, Telugu Desam party (TDP) MLC Nannapaneni Rajakumari said that she was thinking of quitting active politics.
Rajakumari said that when the Karamchedu incident was raised in the State Legislative Council under calling-attention motion, Opposition Leader Dadi Veerabhadra Rao did not speak in support of her.
It may be recalled that Rajakumari was injured in jostling allegedly by a mob of Congress supporters at Karamchedu in Guntur district recently. She alleged that Congress MLA Daggubati Venkateswara Rao was behind the attack.
When the issue was raised in the Council, Home Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy toned down the incident, Rajakumari alleged. “Our party leader in the Council Dadi Veerabhadra Rao did not speak on this,’’ she alleged.
When she mentioned the name of Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, Council Chairman Chakrapani did not allow her on the ground that Venkateswara Rao could not defend himself as he was not a member of the House.
“Though Venkateswara Rao was a member of the Assembly, TDP MLAs failed to raise the issue in that House,’’ Rajakumari said.
“I am upset with the party’s attitude and am planning to quit public life,’’ she told reporters here today.
Meanwhile, the party’s HRD Committee member, Srinivasulu Naidu, who recently shot off a letter to party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, resigned from the party today.
Opposing the re-entry of T Devender Goud into the party, Srinivasulu Naidu submitted his resignation.
