UPSC issues Civil Services 2019 notification; check the new criteria

United Public Service Commission has issued notification for Civil Services (IAS) examination on February 19, 2019. As per the notification, some changes have been made for the IAS aspirants belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) regarding the number of attempts, age relaxation, and the form filling guidelines.

The online application process began on February 19, 2019, and will end on March 18, 2019.

UPSC has issued some guidelines for the candidates to check their eligibility for the IAS Exam 2019.

According to India Today, this year, the UPSC has notified 896 vacancies in the UPSC IAS Notification 2019, which includes 39 vacancies reserved for people with 40 per cent of any disabilities recognised under the Right of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016. The number of vacancies for a normal candidate will be 857, and for IAS, there will be 180 vacancies as recommended by the Baswan Committee.

The number of attempts allowed and the procedure for the same remains unchanged.

The recent decision of Government of India to provide reservation to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of the society will also be incorporated in the UPSC Civil Services exam. However, there is no relaxation provided to the candidates belonging to the EWS category.

The preliminary phase of the exam held to select Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers will be held on June 2.
