UPSC: 34 Muslims among 1,122 qualifiers

Hard work really does pay rich dividends, was the happy lesson learnt by Mohammad Musharraf Ali Farooqui of Hyderabad who secured the 80th rank in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination. His father MMA Farooqui is the Deputy Commissioner of Prohibition and excise of Hyderabad division.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the results on Thursday of the Civil Service Examination 2013. Out of 1,122 successful candidates, 34 are Muslims who had cleared the prestigious examination to join premier civil services including the Indian Administrative Service.

Four Muslims in top hundred Faiz AQ Ahmed Mumta (rank 17), Abid Hussain Sadique (rank 27), Mohammad Musharraf Ali Farooqui (rank 80) and Sana Akhter (rank 90).

Gaurav Agrawal, Munish Sharma and Rachit Raj have bagged the top three spots in the tough examination comprising a written test (held in December 2013) followed by interviews (held in April-June 2014).

Six candidates from Andhra and Telangana secured ranks in which Krittika Jyotsna tops at 30th Rank.
