UP’s most wanted criminal arrested from Chennai

Kanpur, March 03: The Uttar Pradesh police today arrested a most wanted criminal of the state, carrying a reward of Rs 50, 000 on his head, from Chennai.

Sleuths of Special Task Force and the Chennai police, in a joint operation, arrested Israr Paggal who was accused in several crimes involving kidnapping, murder and attack on policemen, ADGP (Law and Order) Brij Lal said.

Paggal was absconding since the past nine years. He went to Chennai where he was working as a scrap-dealer.

On a specific information the joined team trapped and arrested him.

Paggal is allegedly involved in at least 25 cases of crimes registered with the Beconganj police station in Kanpur, Lal said.

“He is notorious for his activities in Kanpur and Lucknow,” he said.

Paggal will be produced before the Chennai Metropolitan Magistrate Court tomorrow and brought to Kanpur later, he said.
