New Delhi, July 30: The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) has set up an action plan to take action against corrupt bureaucrats within three months – with 71 more CBI courts to be set up and no more discretionary powers for Central Ministers. CNN-IBN has accessed recommendations of the Group of Ministers (GoM) against Corruption. Even as the draft Lokpal bill was finalised earlier this week, the UPA is all prepared to tackle corruption with recommendations coming in from the Group of Ministers.
Ahead of the monsoon session which begins on Monday, CNN-IBN accessed the GoM’s recommendations to tackle corruption which include time-bound action against corrupt bureaucrats.
Sanction to prosecute bureaucrats to be decided within 90 days.
The GoM said that at least 71 special CBI courts will be set up to try corruption cases, presently only 10 anti-graft courts are operational. Old corruption cases originating a decade back will be reopened.
In a setback for Union ministers, the GoM recommended doing away with their discretionary powers, and inculcating more transparency in public procurement and contracts.
