Agartala, April 24: Launching a scathing attack on the UPA government at the Centre, CPI(M) Politburo member S R Pillai today alleged that the Manmohan Singh government was protecting all sorts of interests of different corporate houses and depriving the peasants of land.
“This government (UPA) has only one principle ? that is to serve the interests of the corporate. Even the policies of the government are dictated by corporate houses, who even determines who would be the minister of the country,” Pillai said at a rally organized by the Tripura unit of All India Kishan Sabha (AIKS).
“We have been demanding land reforms in the country to provide more land to the peasants to protect their interests because large tracts of land are being given to the corporate houses sacrificing the interests of the farmers,” Pillai said here.
