UP: Examinees place money in answer sheets to secure pass marks

Examinees in Uttar Pradesh have resorted to a unique bribery method by placing currency notes in their answer sheets to pass university examination.
The matter was brought to notice when an evaluator in Agra found a currency note worth Rs 500 note in an answer sheet with a request to pass the student.

The teacher, Ravi Sinha, said it was not a new phenomenon. He said the students had pleaded for pass marks by making strange excuses in the past also.

“Some students write, ‘please pass me because my father has blood cancer. Some mention other deadly diseases and some say they are very poor. Some keep money so that he could get pass marks,” said Sinha.

Coordinator of evaluation, Bhupendra Sharma, said Bhimrao Ambedkar University had adopted a coding system to ensure fair evaluation of answer sheets.

“We are evaluating answer sheets according to a coding system. There is no recommendation and we are doing it in a fair manner. Sometimes money is found in some answer sheets. It is not a new thing,” added Sharma.

A few months ago, family members of students appearing for their Class X board exams in Bihar were seen mounting school wall to pass chits and assist their wards in the exam hall.

Despite the invigilator in the exam room catching students cheating; they were allowed to continue with the exam. (ANI)
