Hyderabad: University of Hyderabad (UoH) has decided to suspend 10 students from academic programmes and hostels for indiscipline. According to sources three students have been suspended for two years and seven students for six months after an inquiry committee set up by the Vice-Chancellor found them to have “prevented officials from discharging their duties and verbal assault”.
During a surprise inspection on November 3, J-hostel administrative officers found a female student spending the night there. The hostel rules state that male students should not enter ladies hostel and vice versa. After the search, some students gheraod the officers and threatened them. University had formed a committee to conduct an enquiry into the incident. On the recommendation of the committee 10 students have been suspended.
Meanwhile backed by the UoH Students Union, the suspended students have launched a protest on the campus demanding that the university authorities “stop moral policing”.
