UoH Stundents’ Union calls for UGBM on Sept 8

The University of Hyderabad Students’ Union has called for a University General Body Meeting (UGBM) on 8th September at 3:30 PM.

The UGBM will discuss the agenda including oppose MHRD’s circular of installing police outpost inside UOH campus premises and render the Hostel Code of Conduct signed by Chief Warden, null and void.

On 4th September, Pehel, Orissa Research Scholars for Social Justice, JASG, Progressive Theatre Group, TVV and Songs of Resistance (ASA) organized an evening of cultural protest to reiterate its uncompromised demand for a police-free campus. Around 450 students joined the program singing songs of struggle and resistance and a street play ‘Hum ladenge Saathi’ condemning the police brutality inflicted on protesting students across Universities.

University of Hyderabad Teachers’ Association Joint Secretary Dr. Tathagata Sengupta expressed solidarity with the students’ struggle against MHRD’s imposition of police on campus. Dr. Tathagata Sengupta stated that the VC has out rightly rejected the demands of the UHTA on the gender, racial and casteist discrimination inflicted on Prof. Gracious Temsen. He said, “We will go on an indefinite relay hunger strike until our demands are met. We will take classes out in the open at the dharna site. We, the student community extend our complete solidarity to UHTA’s struggle for delivering justice to Dr.. Gracious Temsen. We will continue our struggle untill UOH campus becomes police-free. I am attaching the photos of today’s cultural protest.” (INN)
