The University of Hyderabad (UoH) can play a pivotal role in making Hyderabad Biotech cluster a globally renowned one, emphasised Dr. Renu Swarup, Senior Advisor for Department of Biotechnology and Managing Director, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) while inaugurating a workshop on “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” at the School of Life Sciences on the University campus on Tuesday.
Dr. Swarup briefed on the various programs of Government of India which encourages innovation to drive into the market. She noted that among the Indian cities Bangalore has been rated among the top 15 in the global ranking for providing conducive ecosystem to innovative start-up firms. She also mentioned that Hyderabad has all the potential to be placed among the top-rated cities for its advancement in biotechnology industries. She also highlighted some of the success stories of BIRAC and their collaboration with leading World organizations to boost Innovation in various scientific and social sectors.
Earlier, UoH Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Appa Rao mentioned that University has the ability to produce more innovative ideas for entrepreneurship with its world-class infrastructure and the institute will thrive further to boost the innovation among the young minds. The two-day workshop has participants from different science and management disciplines.
The participants will be introduced to various aspects of beginning a start-up firm such as different business strategies, financial models, IPRs and patents. The workshop will conclude on Wednesday with a panel discussion on funding opportunities for accelerating innovation into market places. Prof. P.
