The Mumbai Police has strongly objected to broadcast of “unverified” news reports by a section of the electronic media in connection with the Azad Maidan violence, saying such reportage demoralised the police force.
In a communication to Union Home Secretary R K Singh, the Mumbai Police said several unverified news were telecast by a section of the media while reporting the incident of violence following a protest at Azad Maidan in Mumbai on August 11.
The communication cited a few news reports which were telecast by some media houses without verifying the truth.
Such unverified news reports have potential to demoralise the police force and to disrupt general law and
order situation…,” it said.
