Unused grants revalidated

Hyderabad, April 19: The State Government has revalidated grants amounting to Rs 363 crore not drawn by the district collectors in the previous financial year due to restrictions imposed on the treasuries.

About Rs 39 crore was released to the districts, except Hyderabad, in the last financial year to overcome the drinking water problem.

By an order, the government has revalidated the amounts and asked the collectors to draw the money from the treasuries for distribution to the affected areas.

For the flood-affected areas, the government has sanctioned Rs 71 crore as input subsidy to farmers in the last financial year but four districts could not draw the amount to the tune of Rs 45 crore. The collectors of the four districts of Vizianagarm, Rangareddy, Krishna and Kurnool have asked the government to revalidate the amounts and the government has approved it.

In the drought-affected areas the government sanctioned about Rs 471 crore for the farmers as input subsidy but it was not distributed in Adilabad, Medak, Mahaboobnagar and in Nizamabad districts to the tune of Rs 279 crore in the last financial year. At a request from the collectors of these districts the government has revalidated these amounts also for the current financial year and asked the collectors to draw the amounts from the treasuries.
