Our national flag was designed by none other than Hyderabadi educated woman Mrs. Surayya Tayyab Ji wife of Badaruddin Tayyab Ji ICS. She belonged to the family of eminent personality of Hyderabad Deccan Sir Akber Hyderi. The current flag was designed by Surayya Tayyabji but Pingali Venkayya is generally and wrongly credited as the designer of the flag.
Very few Indians might be knowing the fact that the slogan ‘Jai Hind’ was given by Engineer Abul Hasan Zainul Abideen Abul Hasan. He belonged to a respectable family of Hyderabad. On Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s wish he wrote the slogan ‘Jai Hind’
Muslim heroes of independence struggle and freedom fighters were ignored while nominating for Bharat Ratna. Maulvi Alauddin was also the freedom fighter who was the first to get ‘Kala Pani’ punishment. He was also forgotten because he was a Muslim.
Human rights activist Mr. Captain Pandu Ranga Reddy demanded that the chief minister K Chandrashekhar erect the memorials of Maulvi Alauddin, Turrabaz Khan, Surayya Tayyabji and Engineer Abul Hasan.
