Police made unprecedented security arrangements at the Nampalli Courts complex, where YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is expected to appear before the CBI Special Court on Monday.
The CBI Special Court has accepted the first charge-sheet filed by the CBI in the illegal assets case against Kadapa MP and issued summons to all the 13 accused named in it to appear on May 28. Jagan’s petition to permit his lawyer to appear on his behalf in view of his busy election campaign schedule was turned down by the court. It has become necessary for Jagan to personally appear before the court on that day.
In view of Jagan’s appearance and the possibility of it creating a law and order problem, police made extraordinary security arrangements. They have also set up a number of CC cameras in the court compound. Police are taking no chances as they suspect supporters of the YSR Congress to go on a rampage in case Jagan was arrested.
Reports also said that police had taken this extraordinary precaution as they had foiled an attempt to create havoc in the city in case of Jagan’s arrest. (NSS)
