Unlike Ganga, Hussainsagar will get a facelift

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has asked officials to come up with a proposal on full-scale for cleanup operation of Hussainsagar this summer and take steps to ensure that drains carrying sewage were diverted from the lake.

The work should be taken up on a war-footing as the required funds is on hand, Rao said, while reviewing the civic programmes of Hyderabad at an official meeting here on Saturday.

Mr. Rao expressed agony that people of Hyderabad are living in pitiable conditions, unable to avail their basic civic requirements. If the city will not get a facelift then the condition worsen. Hence, major developments in the metropolis were required, he said.

Mr. Rao was also sore that the sewer lines in the city were in a bad shape and its roads choked with traffic. The shape of the city should change. Trees should be planted in the reserve forest around Hyderabad.
