Hyderabad, January 18: (Siasat News) It is a matter of pleasure that Maulana Azad National Urdu University was established in Hyderabad the purpose of which was to promote Urdu education and to provide educational facilities and opportunities to Urdu speaking population. The University was established by an act of Parliament to fulfill the objectives of providing higher education through the medium of Urdu, to offer professional and technical education through Urdu and to encourage Women’s education. The act envisages that the University can offer education through distance mode and as regular campus education system. It was expected that the inception of Urdu University would be successful in achieving its objectives through Urdu medium and it will reach the zenith of educational progress the University is approaching NAAC and a study report is being prepared.
The University has 460 teaching and non-teaching staff members. In Hyderabad, it has 104 teachers and 212 non-teaching personnel are working in the appointments of the staff of this University, Urdu was made compulsory. It was a condition that they should have studied Urdu at Matriculation, Intermediate or Graduation level. In case they do not possess proficiency, they have to pass the certificate of proficiency course in Urdu. How far this has been implemented, it has to be scrutinized. The purpose for which the University was established has been washed away. These people are earning their livelihood in the name of Urdu but they don’t know Urdu. Persons who don’t know, A,B,C,D of Urdu have been appointed to serve the Urdu speaking persons.
In the recent recruitments, rules and regulations of the University have been violated. Whatever Urdu, the Urdu speakers use, teaching is being imparted with the Urdu worst than they speak at homes. In this way the system of developing the quality and education and to uplift the nation through societal and educational endeavors has completely been killed by appointing non-Urdu knowing teachers and staff. With the deviation of its mandate it is quite evident that how recruitments are being made through nepotism. God only knows with what interests the officers of the University have made these appointments. The pleasure of the inception of the University has been transformed into disappointment of the Urdu speakers.
