Universal Health Insurance Soon: Venkaiah

Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu today said that the Centre would soon come up with universal health insurance scheme nationwide. He was speaking after inaugurating a corporate hospital at Suryaraopet area in Vijayawada. The Centre is all set to introduce this new health insurance scheme to be implemented at national level, he maintained.
The Union Minister emphasized the need for improving services in medical field with combined efforts of Government and Private sector. He exhorted the corporate hospitals to cater to the needs of common man who cannot afford escalating medical expenses. Naidu said that the Corporate Hospitals should provide health facilities to needy and poor people. On humanitarian grounds the corporate hospitals should make available the best medical services in the reach of the poor people, he said.
The Government and private firms should jointly come forward in the health sector to improve the facilities and maintain quality further, Venkaiah Naidu stated. The union minister exuded confidence that Vijayawada and Guntur areas would be developed into a health hub. The two cities are suitable place for promotion of medical tourism, he added. (NSS)
