United Left alone can check communal BJP: CPI

Describing introduction of Entry Tax for vehicles entering into Telangana State coming from Andhra Pradesh by the Telangana State Government as against the spirit of Constitution, the CPI has alleged that the Telangana State Government’s decision will affect the common people heavily in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States.

Speaking to the media at CPI office here on Wednesday, Narayana suggested to the both States to solve the prevailing problem by discussions across the table. He said the TRS Government was acting against the provisions of Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act by introducing Entry Tax on vehicles unilaterally.

Accusing the TDP Government in Andhra Pradesh of working with a hidden agenda instead of supporting Left Parties, which are fighting against the Centre, the former was keeping Left leaders in jail. The AP Government was not implementing people’s agenda, he added. Making it clear that the Left Parties only have guts to face communal BJP, Narayana said CPI was ready for re-unification of Left Parties. “Left Parties’ unification will put a check to Narendra Modi Government”, he said.

He alleged that the communal BJP was influencing the people and political parties and indulging in blackmailing tactics. He also alleged that the BJP was blackmailing not only political parties but also non-BJP State Governments to mend their ways. “BJP president Amit Shah was in Puducherry during CPI National Meeting and blackmailed the ruling party of Puducherry to merge their party in BJP”. Modi is behind Amit Shah’s activities, he alleged. He said the BJP was indulging in such activities only after its defeat in New Delhi.
CPI Telangana State secretary Ch Venkat Reddy found fault with the Telangana State government for issuing a G.O. introducing entry tax to the vehicles entering Telangana State from Andhra Pradesh. “It is a unilateral decision and CPI condemns the decision”, he said. Criticizing Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who assured all political parties that he would consult them in taking decisions unilaterally, Venkat Reddy found fault with the proposal of increase in power tariffs. He said KCR has no sympathy towards jobless youth which had high expectations on TRS Government. (NSS)
