UNITE THE UMMAH – A BIGINING – PART 1

There is no doubt amongst Muslims, whether they are practising or non-practising, that there is so much disunity in the Muslim Ummah. So much to the extent that we are EXACTLY how the Prophet Muhammad, SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, described that we would be:

Thauban (RadiyAllahu Anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah, SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, said:

“It is near that the nations will call one another against you just as the eaters call one another to their dishes.”

Somebody asked:
‘Is this because we will be few in numbers that day?’

He said:
“Nay but that day you shall be numerous, but you will be like the foam of the sea, and Allah Will Take the fear of you away from your enemies and will place weakness into your hearts.”

Somebody asked:
‘What is this weakness?’

He, SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, said:

“The love of the world and the dislike of death.”
[Abu Dawud]

Abu Hurairah, RadiyAllahu Anhu, reported that whilst the Prophet, SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, was talking, a bedouin came to him and asked:

‘When will the hour come to pass?’

He, SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, replied:
“Wait for the hour when trust will be destroyed.”

He asked how it would be destroyed and he said:

“Wait for the hour when the rule will be entrusted to those who don’t deserve it.”
[Bukhari]

But my Brothers and Sisters in Islam, this is a temporary situation and we will grow as an Ummah to stand up against the injustice in the world. YOU CAN ALL HELP. YOU ALL HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS.

HOW DO WE GET UNITY? HOW DO WE GET ONE UMMAH?:

How? Firstly, we need to build unity in the Ummah. This is a major priority. Whilst we are divided, the Ummah will be torn apart across the world, Muslims will be victimised and oppressed, just as we are seeing today. But we CAN achieve unity.

GENERAL PRINCIPLES: QUR’AN AND SUNNAH:

Many Muslims will agree that we follow Qur’an and Sunnah. Meaning we follow the Word and Commands and Guidance of Allah, revealed in the Qur’an and with the Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam). We also follow the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam). We believe in One God Alone, with no partners – Allah. We believe in the Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) – the LAST Prophet. We should not disagree in this matter. Do not bicker in this matter – this is what those who are against Islam want – for us to fight amongst each other on every matter, creating enmity amongst our BROTHERS and SISTERS.

Because we believe in Qur’an and Sunnah, it then follows that we will believe in those hadiths and sayings that are authentic. These are our primary sources and we should be able to ALL AGREE that whatever we learn in Islam, we should be able to trace it back to the Qur’an and Sunnah. If we can’t then DON’T FOLLOW IT. And at the very least do not argue with your brothers and sisters about it. So if your imam has said something about Islam, ensure that it is from Qur’an and Sunnah – and when I mean Sunnah, I mean that of the Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) – not anyone else.

If your imam hasn’t got sources back to the Prophet Muhammad, SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, then you need to question yourself as to why you would want to rely upon these sources. And by sources, I don’t mean that we trace it back through family lineage, we trace it back through verifiable hadith, eg. Sahih Muslim, Sahih Bukhari, Sunan Abu Dawud, Sunan Ibn-Majah, Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Muwatta Imam Malik etc.

So we agree to ONLY use hadiths that can be traced back to the Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) and what was related by his Sahabas and the first 3 generations of Muslims. We do not follow ‘personalities’ except for the Prophet Muhammad, SallAllahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, and the Sahabas. We follow what has been established as being the TRUTH and we reject anything DOUBTFUL or FALSE. And we do not blindly follow! If someone questions whether something is true or false, do not be defensive but establish the truth using Qur’an and authentic Sunnah. If you can’t establish the truth, what are you defending? That’s one difference out of the way.
