Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh advises ultras to follow Holy Quran

New Delhi: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said militants in Kashmir should practice the teachings of holy Quran in real sense and shun violence during the fasting month of Ramzan.

Speaking in an exclusive chat to Deccan Chronicle, the minister of state in the Prime Minister’s Office said: “The holy month of Ramzan according to holy Quran is a month of fasting where every pious Muslim is supposed to observe a very pious living without harming fellow beings and without indulging in violence.”

Outrightly rejecting the unilateral ceasefire proposal of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that ceasefire wa never one-sided, Singh told reporters that why not advise them (militants) to practice the teachings of holy Quran in real sense and not to indulge in any type of violence and harming of fellow human beings during the sacred month.

“Why not to ask terrorists who have picked up guns to shun violence during the holy month of Ramzan? The ceasefire can’t be unilateral but it is bilateral process and those who are advocating it must first ask the terrorists to declare ceasefire in the fasting month of Ramzan to follow the teachings of Quran in real sense instead of politicking over Ramzan to please their constituency”.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on May 9 said that the Centre should consider a unilateral ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir during the sacred month of Ramzan till the completion of the Amarnath Yatra in August.
