Union elections at DU and JNU scheduled on September 11

Delhi University has registered 169 valid applications for its September 11 students’ union elections. 12 nominations have been rejected. The Delhi University Students’ Union poll for four posts is scheduled to be held on September 11.
The candidates can withdraw their nominations latest by 12 noon on September 4. The polling will take place in two phases (morning and evening) on September 11, followed by the counting of votes on September 12, post which results will be announced.
The Aam Aadmi Party’s student wing Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) is making its debut in the DUSU elections this year. They have planned to pick up two major issues in their manifesto – Wi-Fi and employment, with the left-affiliate All India Students Association (AISA) on Wednesday coming out with its poll panel. NSUI and ABVP are expected to announce their nominations on September 5.
Meanwhile, the nomination process for Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) also got over with the varsity declaring 22 nominations for the central panel and 83 for the post of councilors as valid.

“The nomination and withdrawal process has concluded. After scrutiny, 22 nominations were found valid for the central panel. While seven candidates are in fray for the post of president, the nominations of four students has been accepted for the vice president post,” said Praveen Thallapelli, the chief election commissioner for the poll.
