Unemployment Report: Dhruv Rathee exposes how Modi govt. wants data manipulation

Jobs and unemployment is a critical issue which affects everyone across India. A new report by NSSO reveals that unemployment rate in India has broken records and reached a 45 year high at 6.1%. According to NSSO survey, the worst affected people are urban youth. It must be noted that NSSO is the best and extensive survey and it is the most reliable data. Since the report shows the failure of the Modi government, the government did not release the report. However, Somesh Jha, a reporter broke the story on Business Standard. Two expert members – including the acting chairman – of the National Statistical Commission (NSC) resigned on Monday, as the government had not released the numbers despite the commission’s approval.

In order to manipulate the data the government has set up a task force led by National Institution for Transforming India (Niti) Aayog vice-chairman Arvind Panagariya to device a methodology for ‘timely and reliable’ employment data.
