Unemployment rates fall in major US cities

The United States Labor Department has said that unemployment rates have fallen in a majority of the largest cities in the country, as compared to the same period last year, with modest hiring proving beneficial to most areas. Las Vegas saw the biggest annual decline of unemployment, where the rates fell to 10 percent from 13.3 percent, CBS News reports. The lowest rate was reported at Midland, Texas, at 3.1 percent, the report added. Unemployment rates have decreased in 290 of the nation”s 372 largest metro areas. However, there was an increase in unemployment in 68 cities and the situation was unchanged in 14 cities. The highest unemployment rates were recorded in the cities of Yuma, Arizona at 27.3 percent and El Centro, California at 25.5 percent. (ANI)
