An unemployed youth P Gopi made a suicide attempt in front of the Chief Minister K Chandrasekahr Rao at Karimnagar Collectorate on Monday.
According to sources Gopi, hailing from Mahadevpur mandal had come to submit a petition about the financial constraints he was facing to the district Collectors during Praja Vani programme but was told that the grievances programme was cancelled in view of the CM’s visit to the state.
Dejected at learning about the cancellation of the programme, Gopi made a suicide attempt by consuming pesticide just as the CM was coming out of the Collectorate after a review meeting. The officials alerted the security official present there. Gopi was shifted to hospital where his condition is said to be stable and is under medical observation. The CM, the sources said, directed the officials to ensure the treatment of the youth and asked them to look into Gopi’s grievance. (INN)
