New Delhi, October 20: Police today claimed to have solved the murder of a 50-year-old woman in the national capital with the arrest of her unemployed nephew who allegedly strangled her to death and robbed gold ornaments.
They arrested Bharat Aneja (29) from Meerut on Friday for allegedly murdering Rita Aneja and recovered a blood stained cricket bat which he allegedly used to attack her.
Rita was found dead at her home with head injuries and strangulation marks on the neck on October 11, police said, adding that the investigators came to a conclusion that a known relative was involved in the incident.
“Police started collecting information about the suspect and came to know that Bharat, the victim’s nephew, did not turn up for the funeral,” they said, adding that he was caught from Meerut.
