Uneasy calm in OU:PDSU threatens to obstruct Governor

Uneasy calm prevails on the Osmania University campus on the eve of Governor and Chancellor ESL Narasimhan’s visit on Thursday to participate in the 79th convocation of the University.

Tense atmosphere prevails on the campus as the PDSU called for bandh on Thursday in protest against the Governor’s visit. It also warned that it would not allow the Governor to visit the campus to participate in the convocation.

Opposing the PDSU’s bandh call, the OU vice-chancellor said the convocation was a prestigious issue and the students’ plan to gherao the Governor was improper and unjustified. The VC said he had spoken to the police officials about security of the VIPs and appealed to the student organizations to shun from obstructing the VIPs.

Meanwhile, the OU police tightened the security and deployed a large number of its personnel to prevent any untoward incident.
