Hyderabad, October 25: An undertrial prisoner who was reportedly under depression committed suicide by slitting his throat at Warangal Central Prison today, police said.
T Bhadraiah (58), a native of Komnapalli village in Khammam district, was arrested on charges of supplying weapons to Maoists and was lodged at the Warangal Central Prison since September 5, they said.
“Bhadraiah, who seemed to be suffering from depression, resorted to the extreme step by slitting his throat in the bathroom of the jail premises,” a police officer said, adding his body was later found by jail authorities.
Bhadraiah was remanded in arms case and Khammam district police had also seized explosives from his posession, he said.
Matwada police booked a case and further investigations were on.
