Undertrial dies in hospital, family protest

Ambala: Family of an undertrial, who died in the civil hospital, today alleged that he died due to “mental stress” as he was “falsely” implicated in a case.

The relatives alleged police was responsible for the death of Narinder and accused them of registering a “false case” against him.

The police said that he was arrested after drugs were seized from his possession and was later produced to a local court which remanded him to judicial custody at Ambala Central Jail.

He fell sick on May 4 and was admitted to the civil hospital by jail authorities, they said.

Meanwhile, Judicial Magistrate Neha Yadav recorded the statement of the relatives and the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.

However, ACP Hitesh Yadav denied the allegation and said the court had sent him to judicial custody under NDPS Act.
