A circular has been issued by the department of public instruction to all deputy directors of public instruction (DDPI) and block education officers (BEO) to fill the quota of seats (25%) reserved in unaided schools for underprivileged children under the Right to Education Act for the academic year 2014-15.
This circular was issued by the department on Monday following directions of the high court. As indicated by the circular, DDPIs and BEOs have to singled out school dropouts, orphaned children, migrating laborers’ children and differently challenged kids in the vicinity of the school and offer them admission, if an unaided school doesn’t receive enough applications to fill the 25% quota.
The unaided schools had to provide the motive behind for not filling the quota in 2013-14 in the form of affidavits on or before February 20, the department ordered.
