Suspense prevails over the election of Chairmanship and vice chairmanship of Koratla Municipality in Kareem Nagar. In Koratla Municipality there are 31 councillors. Out of this 13 are from Congress 9 from TRS, 5 from MIM, 2 from BJP and 5 are independents. For the election of the post of Chairman 16 votes are required. Since Congress and TRS do not have clear majority, they are depending on seeking support from other councillors. Congress and TRS are making attempts to seeking the support of other parties. Congress needs the support of 3 more councillors. It is trying to bribe other councillors. TRS is trying to gain the support of MIM by offering it Vice Chairman’s post. It is alleged that MIM supported Ms. Kavitha (TRS) for Parliamentary election by taking a huge amount. MIM is now wants to take a huge amount for extending support to TRS in the municipal elections of Koratla Municipalities. After the election of Ms. Kavitha, MIM leaders are giving to gain the post of vice Chairman of Koratla Municipalities. Congress and BJP councillors filed petitions against the MIM councillors that they have submitted false affidavit regarding having less than 2 children. The matter is pending before the commissioner of Koratla Municipality. It may be noted that there is a ban on the Concillors having two children to participate in Municipal Elections. This rule is being implemented since 1995. The members of Congress and BJP are demanding to cancel the membership of the councillors of MIM who have more than 2 children.
