‘Under-construction’ tunnel found along Indo-Pak border

An ‘under-construction’ tunnel was found near an army post in the Samba district. The tunnel stems from the Pakistani side of the international border in Jammu and Kashmir. Acording to police sources a ‘stretch of sunken earth’ was detected by a farmer on Friday near the Chinari border post of India, about 55 km south of Jammu and was informed to the police, the police inturn reported the matter to the BSF.

When the area was dug up to 25 feet deep, a tunnel heading towards the Pakistani side was found. the tunnel is said to be 3 feet in both the height and diameter and has oxygen pipes running along.

SSP Israr Khan believes that the tunnel might have been laid to facilitate infiltration and arms smuggling from the Pakistani side.
