Surat, July 25: A teenage girl was repeatedly raped by her own uncle for three years in Surat.
The girl had been living at her uncle’s house as her mother was unable to support her.
The incident came to light after the girl approached the police and registered a complaint against the uncle.
Seventeen-year-old Ayesha (name changed), a resident of Nava Kamela area near Salabatpura, filed a complaint against her uncle, Sarifshah Fakir, at Limbayat police station.
In her complaint, Ayesha has alleged that Fakir, an auto-driver by profession, had been raping her for the past three years.
She said she had been living at her uncle’s house because her mother, Sabina, was to poor to support her.
“Fakir used to take Ayesha to his friend Suresh Ameltwala’s house in Dumbhal tenement. Fakir used to threaten that he would drive away his wife and four kids from the house if she did not maintain the illicit relationship,” a police official at Limbayat police station said.
However, when the humiliation and the torture became unbearable, Ayesha decided to leave her uncle’s house and return home.
She went to her mother’s house at Bethi Colony in Limbayat and narrated her painful experience to her.
Shocked by this, her mother, Sabina, contacted the police and lodged a complaint.
“Sabina is a divorcee and works as a casual labourer. As she earns very little, she had sent Ayesha to her sister’s house at Nava Kamela, four years back. Interestingly, Sabina’s sister knew everything and had even tried to stop Fakir but the latter paid no heed to her words,” the police official said.
The Limbayat police have launched a hunt for Fakir but have not found him so far.
Sources said that fearing arrest he had gone underground. Limbayat police are investigating into the matter.
