Hyderabad, March 2: Unclaimed bodies are unconcerned with Maslak, Mashrab and political association and Siasat daily has been performing their burials transcending all these discriminations. But getting 4 square yard land for burial of these corpses in and around Hyderabad and Secunderabad has become a difficult task.
At present police have requested Siasat daily to perform the burial of 12 corpses out which some have been lying in the mortuaries for more than a month. Authorities of graveyards are not ready to provide space for those bodies.
Siasat daily has been taking the responsibility of performing burial of unclaimed corpses since 2003 and till now it has performed burial of 780 unclaimed corpses.
Till the administration of graveyard in the premises of Dargah Jaan ullah Shah at Afzal Ganj was in the hands of administrative committee officials they performed the burial along with Siasat staff with such reverence as if the decayed bodies were of their relatives but since the graveyard has been handed over to the trustees the vast space of the graveyard has been narrowed down for unclaimed bodies.
Though Chairman Waqf Board Mr. Syed Ghulam Afzal Biabani better known as Khusro Pasha has extended his full cooperation towards Siasat daily but the officials of Waqf board dilly dally on the issue of burial of unclaimed bodies.
In the previous meeting of Waqf board a proposal had been made to allocate land in Kukat Pally for burial of unclaimed bodies and holy manuscripts however when Siasat’s representative approached CEO to get a copy of the Waqf Board proceeding he disclosed a shocking revelation that documents of the graveyard for which the board had sanctioned a resolution to allocate it for the burial of unclaimed bodies are not with the board.
