Srinagar, Nov. 18 : Former chief minister Omar Abdullah has said that the uncertainty looming large over People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti replacing her father Mufti Mohammed Sayeed as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir is ‘dangerous’ to the state.
“If the transition is to take place then this period of uncertainty is unnecessary & in a state like J&K dangerous,” Omar tweeted.
Mufti Sayeed has in recent past dropped enough hints about his daughter’s ascendance to the Chief Minister’s post.
If Mehbooba becomes the Chief Minister of the state then she would be the first woman chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
However, PDP’s coalition partner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expressed its reservation over Mehbooba’s ascendance to the top post. Leaders of BJP’s J-K unit will reportedly convene a meeting later this week to discuss the matter. (ANI)
