Unauthorized constructions continue at Eidgah Guttala Begumpet land

Hyderabad: The case of 90 acre Waqf land of Eidgah Guttala Begumpet is pending with the High Court, however, unauthorized constructions continue on the land thus violating court orders. It must be noted that Telangana Waqf Board had issued gazette notification claiming ownership of the land. Waqf Board possesses all the documents of the land on the basis of which Supreme Court had permitted to issue gazette notification.

After the issuance of notification and its publication in the government gazette, illegal occupants approached High Court. The court accepting the petition issued the stay order. As per legal norms stay order means to maintain status quo but the illegal occupants of the land do not care about government orders. They carried on the construction activities.

Anger prevails among locals on the construction activities close to the masjid. They made representation with the Waqf Board but due to the absence of Chief Executive Officer, no action could be taken yet. If it continues, construction will be completed on open land and it would become difficult to vacate illegal occupants. Hence urgent action needs to be taken against the encroachers; they may be booked for contempt of court.
