Unani Medical Association organized a two day national seminar UNAFEST 2014 in which the practitioners of Unani Medicine from Telangana, Andhra, Maharashtra and Karnataka attended this seminar. The local Unani practitioners and the students of Nizamia Tibbi College also attended the seminar. Dr. Syed Shaker Jameel, Director General of Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine, New Delhi inaugurated the seminar. Dr. Mohammed Mustaq, former Dy. Director of Central Research Institute in Unani Medicine, Hyderabad who is now promoting Unani System of Medicine in South Africa also attended the seminar. He told that the Unani System of Medicine is recognized throughout the world. In India, Integrated Medical Education offers Unani System of Medicine and also Allopathy due to which the degree holders of Unani Medicine are rated high since they are well versed with both the system. As per the laws of the Indian Govt. the unani medical practitioners can also prescribe medicines of Allopathy.
Dr. Meer Yousuf Ali, Additional Director of Unani, Govt. of Telangana told that the entire world is reverting to Unani System of Medicine. He appealed to the Unani Medical Practitioners and the students to play an important role in popularizing Unani System of Medicine in the entire world.
Dr. Shaker Jameel, Director General of Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine, in his inaugural address quoted the hadith of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) that so long as the Physicians continue to benefit the people, the system of Unani medicines will flourish in the world and people would be cured. Dr. Ahsan Farooqui proposed the vote of thanks.
