Unable to bear the harassment of the college management, a student committed suicide in Ibrahimpatnam, on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday.
According to the information, Venkatesh of Krishnaraopet of Karimnagar district has been studying M. Pharmacy in the Sri Indu Pharmacy College. The management has been pressurizing him to pay Rs 2.5 lakhs, he said in a message sent to his friends. He has stated that he was unable to bear the harassment and ending his life.
The boy was found dead near Ibrahimpatnam tank. Police suspect that he had consumed some pesticide and committed suicide.
On knowing about the suicide, several student organizations staged a dharna at the college with the dead body. They have broken windowpanes, flower pots and cars parked on the campus. Police have resorted to lathi charge to disperse the students.(NSS)
