UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has voiced support for the rights of the homosexuals, calling on world nations to repeal their discriminatory legislations against homosexual people.
In a statement, Ban called for a repeal of laws, now on the books in 76 countries, that criminalize gay marriages.
He also called on the countries to curb violence against homosexual, bisexual and transgender people, decriminalize same-sex relationships, ban discrimination and educate the public.
Observers criticize Ban for using the UN as an outlet to express his personal and pervert opinions, while all the divine religions, including Islam, Christianity, Judaism, etc. oppose the idea of same-sex marriage.
Back in January, during an African Union summit, Ban had urged the African leaders to respect gay rights in their continent.
Earlier this month, US president Barack Obama also announced his outright support for same-sex marriage.
“At a certain point, I’ve just concluded that, for me, personally, it is important to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married,” Obama said in an exclusive televised interview with the mainstream ABC network.
Meanwhile, according to major American media outlets, Obama advisers say that he had intended to publicize his position on same-sex marriage some time before the Democratic Party officially nominates him for re-election in September, for campaign purposes.
