An umbrella for your car

New Delhi, April 15: Such is the simmering summer in the Capital that just a look outside the window is enough to make you fall sick. But just imagine the plight of your dear vehicle that stands outside in the sun the entire day, so that you can whisk it away with the AC blowing full throttle. It might not be a bad idea to take care of your car, if you want it to keep you comfortable this summer.

Here are a few handy tips. You are extremely tempted to get off the car at the doorstep of your destination. But hold on. Try to find a shady parking for the car, even if you have to walk back a few yards. If an open parking is devoid of trees or shade, try and position your car so that it fetches a building’s shadow!Covering the car is not a good option in the parking. Like humans, cars too precipitate. So the metal body needs air to breath. But do cover the dashboard, steering and seats if possible.

Put the steering cover if you still haven’t. The heat damages the textures and flakes of fibre start coming out. Also, avoid any type of leather covers – go for cloth instead. Put the glass shades and window tinting – but don’t make it darker than the permissible limit. An extra sheet of detachable pads are also readily available.

Wash your car daily. Always keep water handy in the car – sprinkle it on the car after a hot day. Avoid keeping eatables, rubber articles inside the car – they melt and damage the place where kept.
