Umar Khalid shooting: probe taken over by Delhi Police Special Cell

New Delhi: The Delhi Police’s Special Cell today took over the probe into the attack on JNU student leader Umar Khalid. Till now the case was being handled by the district police. According to witnesses, Khalid was shot by an unidentified man, however, he escaped unhurt. The Special Cell is also probing a sedition case against Mr Khalid and two other students.

A CCTV grab of the unidentified gunman suspected to have opened fire JNU student activist Umar Khalid caught on Monday afternoon, was released on Tuesday. In the CCTV installed at Vitthalbhai Patel, the suspected attacker is seen running towards Patel Marg at around 2:30 pm, the same time at which the took place incident.

Umar Khalid was attacked before an event at Constitution Club titled – ‘Towards a Freedom Without Fear’ organized by United Against Hate Initiative where he was supposed to speak.
