Karachi, Nov.16 : Following the suspension of Umar Akmal from T20 squad against England due to controversial media reports against him, the Pakistan batsman has labelled these claims as baseless and hurtful.
Akmal was ruled out of the squad and also suspended from central contract of PCB for acting unethically after he was reported of attending a party in Hyderabad, where he went to play the first-class cricket tournament, the Express Tribune reported.
The 25-year-old lashed out at media, saying that he was not answerable to anyone apart from the Pakistan Cricket Board ( PCB).
Expressing his love for cricket, Akmal insisted that he wanted to represent his country for long.
The middle-order batsman further thanked T20 skipper Shahid Afridi for backing him in his difficult situation and considering him as an important part of the team.
Afridi had earlier offered his support to Akmal ,saying that he should be included in the squad if proven innocent.
Pakistan will play three-match T20 series against England, starting from November 26 in Dubai. (ANI)
