Ukraine discontinues ceasefire with pro-Russian militants

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has finally announced that the ceasefire with pro-Russian militants in Eastern Ukraine has ended and the government will make attempts to free their land.

Poroshenko said the hope for peace between the two sides has been lost due to increasing rebellion activities and the decision to end ceasefire is Ukraine’s answer to Russian terrorists and rebels.

Russia and Ukraine have blamed each other for violating the peace accord, reports BBC.

The United States and European leaders have pressurized Russia to withdraw their forces from Ukraine and have threatened to infringe an economic sanction against the top senior Russian figures and businesses.

Russian President Vladmir Putin had earlier remarked the importance of a ceasefire and had urged the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to monitor the truce between Russia and Ukraine. (ANI)
