New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) launched new blue coloured Aadhaar card. It is named ‘Baal Aadhaar’ card which is for children below five years of age.
In a tweet, UIDAI wrote, “A child below 5 years of age gets a blue in coloured Aadhaar known as Baal Aadhaar. When the child becomes 5 yr old, a mandatory biometric update is required”.

In another tweet, it said, “Remember to update biometric Aadhaar data of your child at the age of 5 years and then again at the age of 15 years. This mandatory biometric update for children is FREE”.

Here’s how to get blue coloured ‘Baal Aadhaar’ card.
- Carry birth certificate of the child whose age is below 5 years and Aadhaar Card of one of the parents.
- Provide a mobile number to link to the ‘Baal Aadhaar’ card.
- Photo of the child will be taken at the enrollment center. However, no biometrics will be obtained.
- Collect acknowledgment.
- After verification, SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number.
- “Baal Aadhaar” card will be issued within 60 days after receiving the SMS.
