Ugadi Puraskaralu for 2011 announced

Hyderabad, March 25: The Andhra Pradesh State Cultural Council announced the “Ugadi Puraskaralu” for 2011 here on Thursday.

The awards would be presented by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy at a function to be held on April 4 to 25 persons from 13 fields.

Cash prize

Chairman of the Cultural Council R.V. Ramana Murthy told mediapersons that each award would carry a cash prise of Rs. 5,116 and a commendation certificate.

A committee comprising the representatives from the State Government, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, Cultural Council and Yuvajanabhyudayam selected the awardees.

The awardees selected are: Literature – Dr. Mudigonda Siva Prasad, Dr. Tirumala Srinivasacharya; Music – G.V. Ramakumari (vocal), Ayyagari Syamsundaram (veena);

Sculpture – Y. Sivaramachary, Rohini Reddy; Painting – K. Seshagiri Rao, S. Janardhan; Journalism – G. Valliswar, Vemuri Balaram; Dance – V. Rangamani (kuchipudi), Anjibabu (kathak); Theatre – S.N. Chary, G.S.N. Shastry; Magic – K. Kaladhar (mime), S. Manohar Rao (magic);

Burrakatha – Babji, Premanandam; Harikatha – B. Ranga Rao Bhagavathar, B. Yathiraju Bhagavathar; Medicine – Dr. G. Prasada Rao; Folk Songs – Dr. S. Muralibabu, P. Prakash;

Non-Resident Telugus – C. Dharmakatha (Dubai), K. Jayaram (USA).
