Kolkata: As the censorship row surrounding “Udta Punjab” intensifies, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan today said he is not aware of the issue but feels creativity should not be killed.
Big B is the latest celebrity to make a comment on the ongoing tussle between the makers of “Udta Punjab” and the censor board.
Though the 73-year-old actor has not taken any side in the debate, Bachchan said, “I am not aware of the issue, but would like to say that don’t try to kill creativity.”
The National Award-winner was speaking here at a promotional event of his upcoming film “Te3n” “Filmmakers can approach tribunal and courts, only problem is censoring comes near the release of a film,” Bachchan further said.
Other industry bigwigs like Karan Johar, Aanand L Rai, Kabir Khan and Mahesh Bhatt have been more forthcoming in slamming the censor board for raising objections on the Shahid Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor starrer, which deals with the problem of substance abuse in Punjab.
Many leading filmmakers today lent support to “Udta Punjab” cast and producers at a press meet, criticising the board’s actions and sharing their opinion on freedom of expression.
