UCS pats AP CS for good work on Smart Cities Program

Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao today attended a meeting convened by Union Cabinet Secretary Pradeep Kumar Sinha with all the Chief Secretaries on the implementation of the Smart City Mission.

Smart City Mission, one of the flagship programs of the Government of India, has identified 98 cities across the country in consultation with the States and Union Territories for implementing the program in a phased manner. Pradeep Kumar Sinha appreciated the AP Chief Secretary for exercising on Smart City Program and for its implementation. Based on the recommendations of a Panel of Experts, these cities were selected and going to be implemented with immediate effect under Special Purpose Vehicle.

Union Cabinet Secretary interacted with I.Y.R. Krishna Rao to know the reaction on the selected cities of Visakhapatnam and Kakinada under the mission. The AP Chief Secretary explained that the Andhra Pradesh Government had worked very hard in preparing proposals for three cities viz., Visakhapatnam, Kakinada and Tirupati. Under the Smart City Mission Program, the AP Government fully geared up for its implementation towards development and awaiting guidelines from the Centre. Krishna Rao thanked Centre for adopting a transparent method in selecting the Smart Cities.
