Abu Dhabi, November 09: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will give about $9 million loan for a dam project in Burkina Faso in West Africa, news agency reported Monday.
Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, director general of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), and Omar Diawara, Burkina Faso’s envoy to Saudi Arabia, have signed an agreement in this regard.
Al Suwaidi said the government is committed to support developing countries for sustainable development.
“We seek through this agreement to contribute to the strategic project to improve the standard of living of local people in Burkina Faso as well as achieving food security through the expansion of cultivated lands to increase agricultural production in that country,” he said.
Diawara hailed the support provided by the ADFD.
“We are pleased by signing this agreement with the Fund. This initiative will enable us to help local people in boosting the agricultural sector and to achieve economic stability,” he said.
