Dubai, February 05: Traditional ties between India and UAE were hailed during the release of the coffee table book – ‘India and the UAE: In Celebration of a Legendary Friendship’ authored by the Consul-General in Dubai Venu Rajamony.
The event at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) on Thursday was attended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Also present at the event were Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Governor of the DIFC, senior officials and business community leaders from both the sides.
In his message, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said, “We look at India as a neighbourly and friendly state; we consider India as a force for peace”.
“It is an active member of the non-aligned nations organisation, as well as a great economic power, not only regionally but also internationally”.
“With this in mind, we are keen to maintain and enhance existing bridges of cooperation with India for the mutual benefit of both nations, so that the security and the economic stability of the Gulf region, the Indian subcontinent and the whole world can be achieved”.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Nahyan underlined the historic bond between the two countries and stressed the need for cooperation on areas of mutual benefit.
Rajamony said the idea of the book struck him when he was preparing to assume his responsibility in Dubai.
The 260-page book explores the ties between India and UAE dating back to ancient times.
